Memorias y archivos del hip hop en La Habana

This text starts from the conviction of the importance of archives, and defends the need to create an archive for the Cuban Hip Hop movement. It argues that the exhibition ““Primera exposición-archivística de Hip hop Cubano” at the National Library of Cuba and several local events already provide important steps in this direction. Referring to prestigious institutions such as the Hip Hop Archive and Research Institute at Harvard University, it calls for the institutional and administrative support necessary to create a similar institution for the preservation of narratives and knowledges of resistance, alliances and joy of Latin American and Caribbean spaces and to facilitate local research this globally relevant knowledge; even more so to confront the current neo-imperialist right-wing tendencies in the hemisphere.
